We associate Disaster Recovery (DR) with events like fires or floods that necessitate hardware replacements. However, DR is more often driven by incidents of crime, either physical theft or cybercrime, and user error (~70%). Unfortunately, cybercrime pays. Backups and Cloud Storage are great, they enable the restoration of individual files and folders but not the entire computer or server.  

 

DR uses "disk-image-level" backups to restore entire computer systems including operating systems, applications, and data.

Recovery options include "bare-metal" recovery, which allows for the restoration of a failed system onto different hardware or virtual environments until new hardware is purchased. DR saves many hours of reinstalling operating systems \ applications and getting all the user settings correct.
